In February, the CCC in Belgium organised actions at several Aldi and Lidl supermarkets. Shoppers at stores in Leuven (Louvain), Ghent, Roeselare and Hasselt must have raised an eye-brow when they found their cars on the parking lot covered with flowery car covers. CCC protestors held up sign boards asking "Are Aldi and Lidle trying to hide something?"

They explained about the hidden costs of low salaries in factories where Aldi and Lidl products are manufactured, and the impact this has on the living standards of factory workers far away. This shows how cheap bargains in supermarkets here can be a costly deal to factory workers in Asia. The CCC's Better Bargain Campaign demands for better conditions in the factories where giant retailers like Aldi, Lidl, Walmart, Tesco and Carrefour buy their stocks: respect for freedom of workers' association, decent living wages, transparency, and fair buying practices.

The street actions had been organized by trade unions and development organisations that are part of the CCC platform in Belgium: BBTK, LBC, ABVV, ACV, Wereldsolidariteit, and FOS.

Workers of Aldi and Lidl were informed of the actions and the campaign aims by the unions.
